Allyson Wetherhold is the 2024 Golden Lotus Award recipient.

Allyson Wetherhold is graduating with a BA in French, Political Science, and International Studies, with a minor in Korean. At the Department of French and Italian, Allyson really loved the focus on French as a global language and being introduced to so many cultures. One of her favorite courses was the “French Atlantic” which she found challenging but appreciated learning about the shared history of Francophone countries. In “French in the 21st century” she wrote an essay about how rap elevates and disseminates political messages. She explored the joys, doubts, and anxieties of growing up in a portfolio for the “Creative Workshop in French.”

At Pitt, Allyson serves as the President of the Outdoors Club, which organizes camping, hiking, biking, and climbing trips. She currently works as an elementary school teacher. In August 2024, Allyson will work in English language marketing in Korea for a year, then plans on returning to Pitt for a MA in Education. She would like to work as a high school teacher in social studies.
